Memory Café at Reg Lenna Center for The Arts is a FREE respite and arts program for people with forgetfulness or other changes in their thinking (including cognitive decline, dementia or Alzheimer’s) as well as their care partner, family, or friends.

Madness Most Discreet will introduce attendees to the most fun and cathartic aspects of being a performer, using our bodies and voices to play beginner level theater games and engaging together in a short performance. 

Participants are welcome to enjoy music performances, crafts and easy, appropriate activities to spark friendly social interaction.

Eric Mcelvenny deployed three times as a Marine, and in Afghanistan on his final tour, was wounded after stepping on an IED. He suffered the amputation of his right leg below the knee. Faced with a physical challenge and an uncertain future, he made a promise to himself to run an Ironman Triathlon.

On his journey from the hospital bed in southern California to the finish line in Kona, Hawaii, he realized the challenge and adversity he was up against and the techniques he used to reach the finish line can be used against the challenges we all entertain. Eric’s experience, combined with his Christian faith, makes for a multi-dimensional and truly remarkable story.

Since its founding in 1979, Sprout has provided a year-round travel program of vacations as well as a year-round program of day and evening cultural, social and art-related activities in New York City for people with developmental disabilities. Since 1995, Sprout has run an annual weekend-long music, film and arts festival for an average of 225 people with developmental disabilities complete with live bands, video screenings, interactive art projects, carnival games, and other entertainment.

We understand that this news may be disappointing for many of our attendees who were looking forward to his show. Nicole Byer will perform Thurs, Aug 1 and is one of the most versatile and recognizable voices in the comedy landscape today, acclaimed for her Netflix specials Big Beautiful Weirdo and Comedians of the World and as the host of Netflix’s Emmy-nominated reality-competition baking series Nailed It! Byer starred in NBC’s Grand Crew and was a fan favorite on MTV’s hit series Girl Code. Her past work includes the Above Average web series Pursuit of Sexiness, which she co-created and starred in alongside Sasheer Zamata, and the scripted comedy series Loosely Exactly Nicole. Her network television and feature work includes Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Lady Dynamite, Party Over Here, BoJack Horseman and 30 Rock. She regularly hosts the popular podcasts, Why Won’t You Date Me, and What the Tuck?
