The one-man comedy features Avner Eisenberg as a janitor on a late shift who is distracted by the appearance of the audience and clumsily, yet gracefully, gets himself into and out of trouble involving baseball bats, broomsticks, ladders and more. The show was originally performed at the New Victory Theater in New York City over twenty years ago and continues to reduce family audiences to laughter.Playing off of and poking at the audience, Avner Eisenberg's skits and stunts pay homage to Emmet Kelly, Charlie Chaplin, and the Marx Brothers. His physical comedy — including clown antics, mime, magic, and juggling — have entertained families throughout the world for decades. His baggy pants, googly eyes, and silent props turn everyday situations into comic gallantry.
Performance is 90 minutes without intermission.
More about Avner the Eccentric: Hailed as one of the greatest clowns of all time, Avner Eisenberg enjoyed a generic childhood in Atlanta, Georgia. As a kid his passions were snakes and juggling. Applying the art of juggling to education, Avner attended four universities moving counter-clockwise around the United States, and ultimately earned a BA in theatre from the University of Washington in 1971. Avner is probably best known for his endearing portrayal of The Jewel, the scene-stealing holy man, in The Jewel of the Nile, co-starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. He was also featured in the film Brenda Starr and the television series Webster and Mathnet.
